New week, new "weight loss and diet tips" for you to enjoy! This is the final issue of our "Diet Tips" serie -- and this time includes 32 dieting suggestions instead of the "usual" 12.

DietMiscFoods.jpgMissed last week's first 12 tips? Here's an handy link to quickly get back to them. Feedback and comments as always welcome!

49. Take a Day Off from Dieting - This will keep your metabolism constantly on the move. Dieters tend to fall into a plateau when their metabolism figures out the body is on a diet. The occasional higher calorie intake will kick your metabolism into overdrive.

50. Break down your workouts into small increments of time. A 30 minute workout isn’t much compared to a 24 hour day. Within one 30 minute show you could have completed a workout and burned calories. When you think of workouts as small amounts of time compared to the amount of time in a full day…. It doesn’t seem like much time.

51. Add Milk to your Diet - It is said that adding low fat dairy products to our daily diet could aid in weight loss. The protein in milk helps us feel fuller longer. This is due to the fact that proteins take longer to digest. Just make sure the dairy products are the low fat variety. It is the protein your body needs not the higher fat count. So, look for low fat milk and cheeses.

52. Don’t eat past a certain time at night. I would suggest that you stop eating at least 3 hours before bed. Your body burns less calories at night while sleeping than while it is moving around during the day. So, it makes sense to pick a time in the evening to stop eating.

37. Never Crash diet to Lose Weight - Crash diets just don't work for the long haul.... unless if you mean "crash and burn". The thing about crash diets is that maybe you will lose the weight, but the minute you go off of them the pounds come back. The reason for this is because usually with a crash diet you are doing something extreme that you couldn't possible keep up with for a lifetime. And, like we mentioned before, we are trying to make a lifestyle change. So, please.... walk away from the crash diets.

fruits.jpg38. Instead of eliminating food… substitute them. Eliminating the foods you enjoy can be disastrous. Especially when you want this to be a lifestyle change. If you love meatloaf, but you know that it is high in fat and calories don't eliminate it from you diet, but instead make substitutions. Make alterations to the foods or recipes to keep your favorite foods in your diet.

39. Instead of drinking fruit juice…. Eat a piece of fruit. - This tip saves on sugar and we must admit that eating something is much more satisfying than drinking it. There is a lot of extra calories and sugar in fruit juice. Our suggestion.... stay away from it.

DietMiscFoods.jpg25. Don’t give up all fat. Some fat is good for you. - Not all fat is bad for you. And, you can't completely take fat out of your diet because it would be a completely unhealthy thing to do. Fats helps nutrient absorption, nerve transmission, maintaining cell membrane integrity and so much more. Read up on Good Fats vs Bad Fats to get all your answers on this.

26. Do not let yourself get bored. Change it up a bit. - If you get bored then you have a higher chance at giving up on your diet. There is no reason for you to get bored. If you have been eating the same food because you know they have been working then change it up a bit. Find other foods you enjoy. If it is the exercise that is boring you start a new fitness regimen... just don't allow yourself to get bored.

27. Know your daily calorie limit - What is the amount of calories you can have in a day and still lose weight? There are many weight loss tools to help you figure this amount out. And, I would highly recommend using one of them. Otherwise if you are just guessing the calories you are eating... chances are you are underestimating.

veggieplate.png13. Weight loss buddy - Having a weight loss buddy can be such an amazing help when it comes to your weight loss. Especially if you and your buddy are a bit competitive in nature anyway. Set a goal and see which one of you reach the goal first.

14. Women are not the same as a man - If you are married one of the best ways to lose weight is to lose weight as a couple. Just like in the Weight Loss Buddy tip above you and your spouse could challenge each other.

But, keep in mind, that weight loss between a man and a woman is entirely different. Women have a tendency to lose weight at a much slower pace. And, this can be frustrating for the wife when the husband is losing weight quite rapidly. Check out Gender differences in Weight Loss for more information.

15. There is no magic pill…. Get Over IT!! - Once you get over the fact that there is no easy way to lose weight and no magic pill you can take you will be much better off. There are so many advertisements in magazines, TV, and online for Weight Loss Pill that do magic and make you lose weight quickly.... but they are lies. They don't work. Accept this fact and move on.

Weight Loss and Diet Tips for Success - Issue 1

Posted by adriano on April 3, 2008 at 9:30 PM under: Tips & Suggestions | | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (1)

Following up to the article where we introduced the approach we follow when it comes to enhancing the software products we love -- such as Agendus and Health & Diet Manager -- this is the first installment of 6 weekly issues containing 10 to 12 health & fitness related tips.

weightlosstips_1.pngWe hope you'll enjoy reading them, and perhaps find some helpful suggestion or item onto which to act upon. Feedback as always welcome!

1. Develop a Routine and Be organized - Being organized might sound like a silly way to lose weight, but we promise you that is not the case. Having a plan for any goal takes organization. And, weight loss is no exception. It has been found that the more organized and more planning in their diet the higher their chances of successful weight loss. So, come up with a weight loss plan and put it in writing to always keep you on your toes. Or better yet, use a Diet Software. That way the Diet Software helps you with the planning. Even offering you the weight Loss tools you need.

h&dmainui.png2. Make Exercise a Regular part of Life - This is one of the parts of creating a healthy lifestyle that people really hate. And, it shouldn't be like that. We have found a really cool way to add fitness to your new healthy lifestyle without it being awful at all. It might take a bit of thinking about it will be worth it. Think back to when you were a child or teenager... what did you enjoy doing as far as exercise? Did you use to play tennis? Did you use to take dancing lessons? Was jogging your thing? As a child you did things because the activities were fun.

In order to make exercise a regular part of your life without it being so painful you need to discover exercise that will make you happy. That way you will be happy doing something good for you.

3. Set Goals and Keep Track of your Progress - Before starting any diet or weight loss program make sure you have clearly set your goals and plans for your diet. Using weight loss tools helps figure out how many calories you will be eating every day. Make sure to track your progress through out your diet. Tracking your progress will help keep you focused. Most Diet Software has plenty of tools to track your progress.

Fulfilling Needs - What Drives What We Do...

Posted by adriano on February 21, 2008 at 11:04 AM under: Noteworthy, Tips & Suggestions | | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

If you could be a fly on the wall of our office in Sunnyvale, you’d know that we spend a lot of time talking about what we like about our own software applications and what we’d add to make them even better.  As you can imagine, our discussions are quite lively.

The saying “form follows function” rings true for us.

"I need to track a certain value because I'm trying to accomplish this goal of mine.”

“I want to get this item filed in this certain way because I need..."HDPPC.jpg

"I like monitoring how changing this certain parameter over time affects this other one..."

"I want to be reminded in a certain way about something, and I want to automatically have the reminder perform a certain action when it goes off…"

You get the idea.  The answers to many of these "needs" often show up in new software titles or as new features for titles currently in our portfolio.  The way we look at it, we aren’t the only ones with these sorts of needs – so the solutions we devise should be accessible to others, straightforward to implement and simple to use.

agppro.jpgFor example, the need to manage appointments, or be reminded of things to get done, or recall when a certain event that occurred in one's schedule are addressed in Agendus
