iambic Palm OS apps: running on the Pre through "Classic"

Posted by adriano on June 24, 2009 at 2:16 PM under: News | | TrackBacks (0)

If you recently upgraded your phone to a Palm Pre, you might be interested in knowing that most of the iambic apps for Palm OS are running on WebOS as well, through MotionApps' Classic -- a Palm OS emulation environment for WebOS.

Classic_Certified_patch_216x68.pngMotionApps has introduced a certification process, which consists in testing and verifying that a Palm OS app works as expected in Classic. As of this writing Agendus, Health & Diet Manager, and Vehicle Manager are Classic Certified, and you can expect more to become certified in the coming weeks.

More information about Classic, including how to obtain it, how to install Palm OS apps on it, alongside with environment specific details can be found in the Classic FAQ we have prepared on iambic.com

classic-store-190x190-1.gifGenerally most of our apps work in Classic, even the ones not currently certified. For the up-to-date compatibility and certification status please check this wiki page.

And, to celebrate the availability of Pre Certified Apps in our LifeStyle store, we are offering a special 20% off any Palm OS app available over there, when using coupon code "CLASSIC" at checkout.

The special 20% off discount is valid from now to July 4th, 2009.

Addressing a couple of often-asked questions about Agendus iPhone

Posted by adriano on June 19, 2009 at 6:26 PM under: News | | TrackBacks (0)

Since the release of Agendus for iPhone a couple of questions we hear rather often from pretty much everyone accustomed to use the Palm OS, Windows Mobile or BlackBerry versions of Agendus are centered around Calendaring availability, and our plans to expanding on the Task / To-Dos support.

Here is our attempt to answer such questions and to set the expectations accordingly.

Q: "Is Agendus for iPhone going to have Calendar integration?"

AGIPH_screenshots_combo_5_smal.pngA: Yes, it is going to. After much looking around for options, at least for the moment we decided to go for taking care of storing calendar data separate from the native iPhone Calendar app (also because no way to get to it, and unclear if/when Apple will ever allow that through one of the future SDK updates). We don't believe this is an ideal solution, but all considered is probably the best that can be accomplished on the iPhone given the restrictions imposed by the platform.

It will synchronize with Google Calendar, OTA. We are implementing it with the goal of allowing "easy switching" towards the native calendar storages, upon availability.

As of what level of functionality, features, integration, this is being finalized. As a start it will include the basic views and most of the integration with other portions of the app you have been accustomed to.

Estimate on availability: exact date not yet defined (but we are talking about weeks, so not much far out in the future).

Q: "Are you going to expand on the tasks, allow syncing them in some way, etc.?"

A: yes, but our first priority at this time is Calendar. Although Task syncing is in the planned features under  research / definition.

To be kept up to date on the state of Calendar and Tasks development we invite you to follow us on twitter, join our facebook group, subscribe to the related forum thread, to the iPhone mailing list, and to our rss newsfeed.

We hope having cleared out some of the doubts -- thank you for your patience and understanding on this matter!
