Yahoo! Launches Tech Site

This entry was posted in the following categories: News, Web services

yahoo.gifYahoo! has just launched a new tech site called Yahoo Tech. The site is designed to be consumer-friendly, and hosts content like product reviews and how-to articles. Although the site is pretty and easy-to-use, this may not be the best site for a "techie," despite the name.

The how-to's are gathered from sources like dummies.com and PC World, sources a bit beneath your true geek . However, the "Advisors" link points you to articles from experts, such as , The Techie Diva. Surprisingly, her posts weren't just an aggregation from her blog, but seemed to be original content just for Yahoo Tech.

The "My Tech" section of the site lets you do comparison shopping, while saving products, as well as keeping a list of tech products you own. Still, it doesn't feel very geeky to have your tech gadgets and shopping lists housed under a "My Tech" sidebar.  This site may not be the best true tech site, but perhaps it does fill a niche: tech info for consumers who aren't really that into tech.
