Customize Your Google Searches in Firefox

This entry was posted in the following categories: Reviews, Web services

Firefox extension CustomizeGoogle is a Google enhancement that lets you do all sorts of, obviously enough, cool customizations to Google pages.

Among other things, CustomizeGoogle can add links to search results from other search engines (Yahoo, Ask, etc.) when you search Google and can remove other elements, like ads.

You really have to install it to understand just how many options there are (or watch the introduction video), but off the bat one of the customizations I’m pretty happy to turn on is getting rid of the Spam counter on my Gmail.

With over 2000 spam messages filtered from my Lifehacker email, there’s really no way I’m going to touch that folder, so there’s no reason for the Spam folder to stay bold and keep me updated with all the crap in there.

What’s more, CustomizeGoogle can add links to search results for bookmarking pages with your favorite bookmarking service (del.icio.us, digg, etc.), and Gcal integration is already on its way. Works anywhere Firefox does.
