Microsoft Upgrades Desktop Search for Enterprise

This entry was posted in the following categories: Home / Office, News

While Microsoft has previously released a consumer version of their desktop search, they are nowMS Search concentrating on similar desktop search for the enterprise market. Most observers see this as another step towards Microsoft's broader vision of a much more comprehensive enterprise search solution. Right now, while the consumer search market is dominated by larger players like Google and Yahoo, the enterprise market is much more fractious. Smaller players are still dominant and both Google and Microsoft are making their push to be a big part of what looks like may finally be more consolidation in this area.

Microsoft recently acquired "FolderShare," a P2P like file-sharing application, and we've heard quite a bit of talk about WindowsLive Services in the last week. With that in mind, we are very likely to see quite a bit of integration between those services and Microsoft's enterprise desktop search (in the near future).
