New Yahoo! Maps Service

This entry was posted in the following categories: News, Productivity

In another extension of the epic Yahoo vs. Google saga, the new Yahoo! Maps has delivered a body-blow toYahoo! Maps the Google mid-section. It's still in beta, but it has a ton of new features and it's already very usable. With traffic information, a new local-search feature, and drag & drop addresses, the new Yahoo! Maps seems to have really met the Gmaps challenge.

While I'm a fan of Google-maps, Yahoo! has clearly done a great job here. This isn't a case of Yahoo! just catching up to Google. The Yahoo! site is easy to use, ties in well with some of the various Yahoo! services we are all used to, and it's customizable (yes, much like Google's Maps). You can really see the extent of the customization possible, with a visit to Justin's Macromedia-blog or a visit to Yahoo's! own gallery. If you visit Justin's blog, be sure to check out his really awesome Yahoo! Pirate-map.
